Our online shop solutions require an online payment provider, or merchant service provider, to take credit/debit card transactions on your behalf. There are 3 that we currently recommend, PayPal, SagePay (Protx) and RBS Worldpay.

Payment providers are a recommended solution because they remove any risk of taking payment online. They negate the need for you to store or deal with credit card numbers on your website. Storing of credit card numbers or e-mailing credit card numbers is not recommended as you would be liable if someone intercepted these details and used them for their own means.

Please note that some payment providers require you to have a bank account with merchant facilities enabled or a merchant bank account, SagePay and RBS WorldPay are two examples who do.
